Community Emergency Response Team

The Beaufort Police Department, Carteret County Emergency Management, and the Town of Beaufort are pleased to annouce that a new Beaufort CERT Team (Community Emergency Response Team) has been formed.  CERT Teams are citizens who volunteer within their community to assist law enforcement, emergency medical services, and fire service with events such as hurricanes, floods, fires, and other situations in which volunteers play a vital support role to emergency managment services.  This Team was developed by the Carteret County Emergency Management Office (CCEM) and will be sponsored by the Beaufort Police Department.  The CCEM has already developed CERT Teams in other parts of Carteret County.  Each CERT Team also assists other CERT Teams during events that are localized to certain areas.  If you have questions or are interested in joining a CERT Team please contact Joanne Smith at CCEM 252-728-8470, Chief Steve Lewis at 252-728-4561, or visit www.citizenscorps.gov/cert.
